My Abode - Visitors Welcome

It has been a long time in coming, but I want to welcome you to my home.  I moved into the town of Soroti in May and for the first few weeks I didn't have any furniture or means of cooking.  I slept on a mattress down off the floor and wrestled with the mosquitos every night.  For many weeks I skipped meals, ate out, or joined friends for something to eat.  Thankfully my neighbours gave me porridge whenever I wanted.
Slowly over the weeks I have been shopping, buying pieces and having furniture made.  This morning I gave the carpenter the measurements for my final piece - a desk, but I wanted to show you my pad.
I am so excited that I could find this place for only $145 / month.  God is good.
I don't want to shock anyone, I don't live in a hut.  I have a walled compound with barbed wire surrounding the perimeter.  I live with 6 other Ugandan families and I love it.
Welcome to my compound
It's called the Old Banking Quarters
This last section (of 6) is my abode
Just off the kitchen is a little storage closet for my bike
As you enter the front door - my kitchen
Cupboards were built for the kitchen
A cooker was bought in Kampala and the fridge in town!
Step into my living room
Many decorations from the Philippines made it here

Next is the hallway - with great storage!
The hallway leads to five rooms.
My spare room - YOU ARE WELCOME!!
The children from my compound love to play here!
They know this is the room they can play in!
It's the aquarium.
Spare room doubles as a library
Obvious - a place for short calls and long calls.
Bathing room
My bedroom... so peaceful
The view from my bed - with great storage to the right.

The chairs arrived on Saturday night - now I can host!

The children are busy colouring.  :)
Last view of the living room...
Also has a door to the outside or back into the kitchen
Thank you for visiting my home, please come anytime!
